In the game of Capoeira, all participants face inward towards the game; the purpose of this is to generate and transmute energy and enthusiasm to the players involved in the Capoeira game. The audience and their energy are fundamental aspects of this piece of work; they will be playing a crucial role in the outcome of the game/painting. It is important that this piece of work is performed in front of an active audience as they are also important participants of the process. This piece of work operates as a performance as well as the production of itself at the same time and this is a concept and process that I am fascinated with. I intend to develop this project with external help in two areas. Firstly, I would like to find either funding or materials sponsorship that would cover the cost of the materials (paint, canvas, hire of a video camera and a video screen plus peripheries such as recording media and post-production). I have planned more performance practice for this project so I can make the production as tight and polished as possible, therefore I need to find a sponsor to fund this project development time. Secondly I am looking for events and festivals to showcase the project and to generate an interest that could lead to different opportunities. All the performers will be accomplished Capoeira players and some professional performers, together with a Capoeira band and finally a crew of paint loaders. The full entourage would consist of a minimum of 15 people. Structural issues will need to be addressed with the use of the overhead video projected onto a video screen behind the performance. This would involve setting up a self-supporting beam across the top of the performance area (at the height of about 4.6 metres), upon which a video camera could be securely mounted. Other technical issues, especially if performing in an outdoor situation could involve the hire and use of an electricity generator to power the electrical equipment; video cameras, a digital video projector, a computer to transfer the video images to the projector and possibly lights if the performance is executed after sunset. Below is a wish-list that would help me develop this project: Financial Funding: I would like to be able to attract interest from arts funding bodies to help us develop this project, first of all as a performance, but with the intention to eventually generate it as a community project aimed at disenfranchised youth.
